Abstract:Ti1.4V0.6Ni composite is synthesized by arc-melting and subsequent melt-spinning techniques. An improved electrochemical stability of Ti14V0.6Ni composite is obtained by chemical plating Ni. The phase structures of the composite contain icosahedral quasicrystal phase (i-phase) and TiNi-type phase. Different amount of Ni is coated on the surface of the composite particles. When Ti14V0.6Ni is plated with 19 wt% Ni, the discharge capacity retention ratio is promoted. Ni coating layer inhibits the dissolution of V from the composite and also promotes the high rate discharge property. (C) 2015 Else
