Profile:
Dr. Daochen Zhu is currently working as a Professor and Executive Dean at Biofuel Institute, School of the Environment and Safety Engineering, Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China. Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of AI-Driven Design and Biomimetic Processes for Biomass in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry. Director of the China-Pakistan Joint International Laboratory for Synthetic Biology and Biomass Refining. He has earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Biochemistry from Kobe University, Japan (2008). During the tenure of his career, he also worked at Washington State University, USA, as a Visiting Scholar (2015–2016). Has led and participated in multiple research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, Jiangsu Key R&D Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation, Jiangsu Carbon Neutral Technology Innovation Program, Jiangsu Agricultural Independent Innovation Program, Guangdong Natural Science Foundation, the MOE Startup Fund for Returned Overseas Scholars, and the High-Level Talent Startup Fund of Jiangsu University, among others. Has also collaborated on over ten enterprise-funded projects. Published over 100 SCI papers in top journals such as Biotechnology Advances, Green Chemistry, Journal of Cleaner Production, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Industrial Crops and Products, Bioresource Technology. Authored five English monographs published by Springer, Elsevier, and Wiley. Holds ten authorized invention patents and one PCT patent to his credit with international repute..
Dr. Zhu is a recognized guide for M.S. and PhD students. He is a reviewer and editorial board member of various peer-reviewed journals of international repute.
Reserch area:
1. Exploitation of extremophiles and enzyme resources and their applications in environmental, biomedical and industrial fields;
2. Construction and metabolic pathway optimization of lignin degrading microbial chassis cells;
3. Bioconversion and processing of biobased chemicals, synthesis and metabolic regulation of natural products and their applications in industry;
4. Preparation and function research of biobased materials, 3D printing of degradable materials;
5. Bacterial chemotaxis and biosensors.
