I am a Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Materials Science & Engineering, Jiangsu University (China). I have been the Vice President of Jiangsu University since 2018 and the Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry since 2020. From September 2004 to September 2005, I was engaged in the research of nanocomposites at the Materials Department of Imperial College, UK. In 2009, I was selected as a national talent of the "New Century Talent Project". In 2012, I was rated as an expert enjoying the special subsidy of the State Council. In 2018, I was selected as the "scientific Chinese (2018) person". Concurrently, I am also the director of the Key Laboratory of metal matrix composite and functional materials for mechanical industry, director of Jiangsu high performance aluminum-magnesium alloys and their composites engineering laboratory, director of Jiangsu aluminum matrix composite engineering technology research center, director of China Nonferrous Metals Society, member of the national engineering materials standardization working group, and Secretary general of Jiangsu high performance alloy industry technology innovation strategic alliance.

Since 1989, I have been engaged in the research and teaching of high-performance light alloy (aluminum alloy, magnesium alloy) and in-situ synthesis of metal matrix composites. I have undertaken six projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, two key projects, one national "863 Program" project, and more than 50 key and major scientific and technological projects of the Ministry of education and Jiangsu Province. I first propose and invent the Magnetochemistry and Sonochemistry Technique to fabricate in situ aluminum-magnesium matrix composites with high strength, high toughness and fatigue resistance in the world. And I have designed and developed Al-Zr-B-O system new ceramic nanoparticles reinforced aluminum matrix composites for the first time, proposed and established the in-situ multi-component ceramic nanoparticles reinforced aluminum alloy and the corresponding in-situ ceramic nanoparticles and rare earth synergistic effected aluminum alloy new technology and theory, created multi field coupling control in-situ synthesis of high-performance metal matrix nanocomposites, and successfully applied them to aviation, high-speed iron, new energy vehicles and so on. I wrote the monograph "In Situ Aluminum Matrix Composites" and published it by the internationally renowned publisher Springer in 2022 for global distribution.

In composite science and technology, Journal of alloys and composites, Journal of Materials Science & technology and other core journals, I have published 230 academic papers, including more than 250 SCI papers and more than 1200 SCI papers cited. I have applied more than 90 authorized National invention patents in China and 4 authorized PCT patents. I have been granted four PCT patents from four developed countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Switzerland. Meanwhile, I have won 2 first prizes of science and technology of China machinery industry, 1 first prize of science and technology of Jiangsu Province, 1 second prize of technological invention of Ministry of education, and 3 second prizes of science and technology of Jiangsu Province. I have also written and published 2 monographs, i.e. In-situ Synthesis of Aluminum Matrix Composites by Science Press in 2016 and Manufacturing Technology of Light Alloy Wheels by China Machinery Industry Press in 2017, and edited a national planning textbook for higher education of Metal Matrix Composites, and participated 3 textbooks of Research Methods of Materials Science, Scientific and Technological Innovation and Thesis Writing, Introduction to New Technologies for Preparation of Metal Matrix Composites, and 1 handbook of Application Manual of Aluminum Alloy.
